Expert Robots: SCARA robot on an assembly line

Robotics

SCARA Robots

Expert’s fully integrated, bespoke systems experience includes SCARA robots.

SCARA robots are usually used for:

  • Pick and place
  • Swing
  • Rotate

The main advantages of SCARA robots are high speed and accuracy.

In comparison to Six-Axis robots, SCARA robots are limited in their movements and they also, usually, have a shorter reach range. Whether this is relevant depends on the tasks that the robot is required to complete.

SSCARA is an acronym of Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm or Selective Compliance Articulated Robot Arm.

SCARA robots have similar functions to a human arm with an elbow. SCARA robots are usually quicker than other robots and are able to operate normally in many different factory environments, eg dusty.
